Leanna is a registered dietitian nutritionist and chef. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, and her dietetic internship at Rutgers University, primarily focusing on medical nutrition therapy. During this time, she was able to observe, understand, and engage in the dietitians' role in inpatient and outpatient interdisciplinary care. Leanna has experience in child, adolescent, and adult nutrition. In addition to her work at BeginWithin, she also worked as a clinical dietitian at Jersey Shore Medical University in the acute care setting for adults and children.
Leanna grew up cooking with her family and went on to learn more about the preparation and versatility of food. She earned her Associates Degree in Culinary Arts at Brookdale Community College. For two years, Leanna worked as a personal chef and conducted multiple cooking classes for public groups, focusing on whole-food nutrition. These experiences inspired her to become a registered dietitian.
Having recovered from an eating disorder as a teenager, Leanna deeply understands and empathizes with those suffering from eating disorders and body image issues. She recognizes what is needed to help others explore their relationship with food, their bodies, and the steps it takes to overcome fears and develop a healthy, sustainable relationship with food. Leanna is passionate about helping individuals understand the role that food plays in the body's function and how it can help improve one's mental and physical well-being.
